For an immigrant looking to invest in our beautiful country, you will need a Class G work permit which is referred to as an Investor Immigration Permit in other jurisdictions.

In order to apply one must be a foreign national or a foreign company representative or a foreign national who is a shareholder of a local or foreign company registered in Kenya. One must then submit a duly filled application form to the Department of Immigration attached with a copy of the necessary documents which shall include Proof of funds using two Bank Statements with proof of USD 100, 000/= or the equivalent in any currency in a local Kenyan bank, tax compliance certificates, a copy of Registration Certificate of your company or Business, a Current CR12 certificate and further documents that shall be required in case of government contracts.

Once the application is tendered, one must then pay the following fees:

       i.         Application fees of Kshs. 10,000/= (non-refundable)
 ii.         Permit fee Kshs. 100, 000/= per year which can only be paid for a maximum of 2 years at once.
iii.         Security Bond worth Kshs. 100, 000/= – of which the cost of the Bond will depend on your Bank or Insurance Company.

Once the application is approved, you shall be issued a two (2) year Investor permit and shall have the freedom to conduct business in Kenya, enter and exit the country without Visa requirements or fees, etc.
